BTS' Galactic Collaboration with Coldplay & Green Day's Meme Day π€π»
BTS & Coldplay finally dropped their new single- 'My Universe', and with September officially wrapping up, it's time to revive a classic meme π
Whatβs up folks?
Itβs Fri-Yay yet again, and another action-packed week in music concludes with a video drop of the latest collaboration between K-Pop Boy Band- BTS and 25-year old British rock band Coldplay.
My Universe π
The song titled βMy Universeβ debuted to over 100,000 people at the Global Citizen Festival held at 7 different venues over 7 continents and with more than a billion people tuning in for the 24-hour live broadcast πΊ
With Coldplay performing from Central Park, New York and BTS joining in the performance virtually from Seoul, it was literally like the coming together of two-different universes.
While BTSβ insane global fanbase needs no introduction, Coldplay have cemented themselves as one of the biggest rock bands of the 21st century, with more than 100 Million albums sold and 7 Grammy awards π
Their latest collaboration yet again proved how the band has managed to keep itself relevant, at a time when rock and instrumental music hardly commands the attention of the masses as it used to, back in the day.
Check out the video they dropped for the collaboration with BTS, it honestly looks more like a trailer to a Science-Fiction film, rather than a music video π¬ππ»
With almost 15 Million views already at the time of writing, this one seems poised to go onto beat a few YouTube records π
Green Dayβs Meme Day π€π»
Itβs officially that time of the year again.
In case youβve forgotten all about it, today marks the end of September, and as the joke goes, itβs time to wake American rock band Green Dayβs lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong, up from his sleep π΄
Still not following?
Back in June 2005, Green Day released their 7th studio album- βAmerican Idiotβ, and its 4th single was the song βWake me Up, When September Endsβ π
An instant classic, it hit #6 on the Billboard Hot 100, was later certified as a Platinum Record by the RIAA πΏ and was dedicated to the victims of Hurricane Katrina in the United States, and also the 9/11 attacks in New York in 2001, which happened in Septemberπ½
Originally written by Armstrong in memory of his father, the songβs release coincided with rise of Internet in mainstream Pop Culture, and naturally the memes followed.
Having said that, it is one of the best acoustic songs this side of the millennium, and what better way to kick-start your weekend, than binge on the entire album.
